FORECAST:
Okay were back. The weather has been pretty boring around here lately. Tomorrow we will see some of everything. Storm starts by daybreak tomorrow. It will start here as freezing rain. If everything stays the same, we should not have school tomorrow. Freezing rain is rain that falls and freezes to a cold surface on contact. Look for it to change to all rain by noon in the valley cities. During the evening it will switch to all snow. I expect about 2-4 inches in the valley with higher amounts as you go up in elevation.
HYPE ALERT:
Their is still the off chance that the storm track further off the coast and brings us less of a mix and higher snow totals.
HOW THE STORM WILL AFFECT YOU:
-School closings and early dismissals Thursday. (At this point I don't think we will change to all rain fast enough to just get a delay tomorrow)
-School closings and delays on Friday. ( I assume that many districts will give at least a delay on Friday, if the storm drops enough snow on the back end.)
-Hazardous roads will cause delays on your way to work.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS.
I have received many questions today regarding the storm. Here are a couple.
Q: IS SCHOOL CLOSED FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK?
A: I BELIEVE MOST SCHOOLS HAVE SEEN THE LAST FULL DAY OF THE WEEK, BUT ITS NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION TO ONLY HAVE A DELAY FRIDAY. AT THIS POINT I DON'T THINK WE WILL HAVE SCHOOL ON THURSDAY.
Q: HOW IS IT GOING TO SNOW WHEN IT WAS ALMOST 60 DEGREES TODAY.
A: A COLD FRONT IS COMING DOWN AND BRINGING THE TEMPS DOWN. HOW FAR DOWN THE COLD AIR COMES, THE FURTHER THE EAST THE STORM TRACKS. FURTHER EAST = MORE SNOW FOR US.
Q: HOW MUCH SNOW?
A: RIGHT NOW I AM GOING WITH 2-4 IN THE VALLEY, WITH POSSIBLE SPOTTY HIGHER AMOUNTS. SOME ELEVATIONS COULD EASILY SEE 6+.
Q: WHEN IS IT GOING TO START?
A: EARLY THURSDAY MORNING AROUND DAYBREAK.
BOTTOM LINE:
It's our first decent snowfall for the valley cities, which will cause travel problems.
